Not true. It's not the default for RedHat, but I understand that it's better used in the European distros and I notice a fair number of users elsewhere. For scenery data like DEMs, ReiserFS gives me an extremely large improvement, sometimes taking only 25% of the disk space of the same data under E2FS (I didn't check E3FS, but it should be similar). I strongly recommend Reiser for anyone working with scenery data.
