It would be Cool but FGFS would crawl with our current scenery scheme
Probably need a distance based chunked LOD scheme or something similar
for this to work well

But I think we should investigate using this around airports initialy where
things are usually relatively flat.  This should not add many triangles
overall
and should add a fair bit of fidelity to the placement of visual clues where
they are most important

Making the entire airport object an LOD object that swapped in a lowres
model at ranges over a mile or so would make a nice addittion and  be a
good starting test case for LOD experiments.
