Thanks for the trip report -- I've been thinking that a Strike Finder
might be a good investment if I want to actually use my instrument
rating in spring and summer once I've finished it, and your posting
was one more confirmation of that.

What were you flying?  From what I could glean, it was a well-equipped
retract with very up-to-date avionics (how many rentals have a Garmin
430?).  Was it an Arrow or a 182RG, perhaps?

FlightGear is going to get a lot more interesting once we model
changing weather, turbulence levels, etc.
