IRIX user know this site  ;-)
Still GCC is pretty broken on IRIX/MIPS. When I started trying to build
FlightGear with GCC(2.95) I first had to deal with a bunch of compiler
errors. GCC on IRIX/MIPS simply was not able to deal with the C++ code.
There are still issues even with current releases: Simple example: You can
build N64 binaries of several GNU programs with GCC-3.3, but you still can't
build GCC-3.3 N64 binaries with GCC (I managed to do this with GCC-2.95.x),
