I think many windowmanagers (and windows itself, Alt+F4) use Alt for their purposes. I'd like to have Alt free for System and Windowmanager stuff. I'm thinking along the lines of emacs: Control for most shortcuts, and Meta for others (which the user could map to Alt, or Windoze keys, or whatever) In blender eg. i can't use some Alt- shortcuts since i've have some Alt- mapped for my windowmanager (ion).
