Yep, at least for older AI's -- it will re-erect itself in a little
while, if you're patient.

In fact, unusual attitudes like that can cause other problems as well.
I was practicing a hold inside a well-developed cumulus cloud on
Thursday, and just as I was turning outbound for the parallel entry, I
hit some nasty stuff (not that the whole thing wasn't a roller-coaster
ride) and snapped into a 45+-degree bank before I could get it back.

I had reset my heading indicator just before entering the hold, but
then I had all kinds of trouble intersecting tracks.  It took me a
while to figure out that that one jolt had caused my HI to precess 30
degrees instantly (!!).
