I've been staying out of this because the 747-400 is quite a bit newer than the other "glass" Boeings I've flown, so what's true for the 737/757/767 might not be true for the 747-400. With that said, they are probably about 90% identical. I don't know much about the speed tape because I never look at it. I prefer the old-fashioned round dial airspeed indicator. I'll start looking at the speed tape when they take away my airspeed indicator.
