What is this "arbitrary point" you are referring to?
It is a location which you can choose. You can use the CG, the nose of the aircraft, the center location of the front of the nozzle, anything.
*But*, _everything else_ is relative to that location.
What is it's property name?
It doesn't have a property name, you can even say it doesn't even exists ...
While I'm on the topic of property names where can I find a comprehensive list of all the FlightGear and JSBSim aircraft properties with corresponding descriptions?
There are no descriptions yet, but an incomplete list of properties can be found in FlightGear/docs-mini/README.properties.
Even the properties that seem to be self descriptive can be interpreted in so many ways and it's confusing me to no end.
Well, we try to be as descriptive as possible, but yes we need to make this part a bit more clear.
BTW. I would not recommend to use JSBSim internal properties for things like animations and such. If you need something from that branch it should probably go into the main tree anyhow.
