And BTW: I know that airport lighting can't easily be implemented in a similar way. Still, turning off all the taxiway lights when looking from further away might be desirable. :-)
Actually, if you're approaching a runway from about 90 degrees, it's the taxiway lights that you can see -- the runway lights are invisible until you're right overhead.
