You gotta admit this must be the exception. Come down and visit a Staples store and you will quickly realize that they hire the people that aren't smart enough to work at Burger King. As for the trouper, Greenfield is just one of those places where not much happens (I'm originally from the Boston area). More than likely the trooper is a peeping tom who just likes having a legitimate excuse to look into people's windows. The only part of the story that bothers me is the customer's reaction (although there is an old saying that term "military intelligence" is an oxymoron). If it was me, I'd have been raising such holy hell that the trooper and the store manager would wish they hadn't gotten out of bed that morning. This followed up with calls to a lawyer and maybe even the ACLU. Then on to the press (it is a juicy story after all). Maybe I'd make some money, maybe not. But you can bet that every manager in the Staples chain would be measuring their "terror alert" response from then on. That, in a nutshell, is what really happens down here. Airline flying sucks these days...but you can count on that changing down the road as well.
