Note that the Staples clerk actually told the servicewoman and her son that instructional flying software was illegal, before he reported them to the police.

Might help if the people 'paying attention' weren't complete idiots! :) She gave that clerk far too much credit. And exactly where was the store manager I wonder? Seems like someone at least should be charged with criminally negligent stupidity.
No doubt if they had it at Staples you could go in, give the same clerk a good excuse for how your smoke detector stopped working and needs a new radioactive source, walk out with a few million pounds of plutonium and a clerk thrilled with his commission, and then proceed to blow up the entire world.
