Every GPS I've seen does elevations, but the elevation information is only just becoming legal for vertical guidance in specially-designated approaches, and only when supplemented by WAAS.


Yet another thought that seems to get mentioned here occasionally: a nearest
airport function.

Every aviation GPS has that -- it's the engine-failure panic button.
