The North American Aviation division of Rockwell International was aquired by Boeing in the mid 90's, and Douglas, part of McDonald Douglas, became part of Boeing when the merger of Boeing and McDonald Douglas occured.

I was surprised to read of Boeing's involvement with the X-3, X-10 & X-15 - both the X-10 & X-15 were North American Aviation and the X-3 was Douglas. Perhaps Boeing were referring to the launch ship (NB-52A), although I wasn't aware that the X-3 had done any air-launches.
