by passing the BLOBs thru an appropriate pipeline to come up
with the desired product.  Note the BLOBs might not always be 
actual rasters in the DB but instead a data stream < think actual 
sensor data > from which rasters are made.

Some are using OSSIM as the back end for a WMS or WCS

Note these only define the protocols < REQUESTS and RESPONSES >
not the how of implementation
