Arghh. Good catch! Apparently, fgfs doesn't strip that. And Gerard
uses a crappy editor.
Add this to your ~/.vimrc and become a happier man:
set listchars=tab:��,trail:�,extends:�,precedes:�
or this:
set listchars=tab:�`,trail:�,extends:>,precedes:<
m.
