I am asking you to copy/paste the content of a text file named fgrun.prefs as a reply of a message of this thread. Perhaps you will have better luck if you search it with the explorer, but often, the directory is hidden, and the file is skipped by the search.

What are you getting if you only enter "set" ( without the quotes ) at the prompt ?

You should post the content of the fgrun preferences files located at :
%APPDATA%\flightgear.org\fgrun.prefs

( If you don't know what %APPDATA% means, open an command line window and enter ( at the prompt ) :
set APPDATA
then replace %APPDATA% by the string after the printed '=' )
