Warning: angry ranting ahead.

OK, I've been away for a while, alternately because my graphics setup
was buggy or because I was out of the country, so I haven't been
following the list for a month or two. I just came back, installed a new
Nvidia card and compiled the latest FG. Works great, I was really happy.
The first time I ran it at least. The second time, I discovered that FG
had helpfully deleted my 200 or so line long custom preferences.xml file
and replaced it with 18 lines of useless tripe.

Now, I have this backed up, but needless to say, I am *not* happy. I
really like FG, but when I run a piece of software I expect the
developers not to go around deleting files that I have spent quite a lot
of time writing, especially not without even telling me that I am
currently being screwed. This really makes me feel like I am back on a
Windows machine and I find it really offensive.

Now, is there a way I can run FG without losing my configuration every
time? I'd really like to get back to flying and developing airplanes,
but this is sort of getting in the way a little bit.

Josh
