Hmm, especially the fees. :) - But there is a easy solution for that: I go to

That's a nice idea, Karsten, your uncle is called Bill, isn't it? :-)
But seriously, I don't understand what's the problem with a realistic
battery? This can be one very serious problem is you don't handle your
aircraft well.
Our BK117 has it's own external power plug at the base, sitting on the
platform. It is started with external power, than unplugged with running
engines (the HEMS is outside looking for fire and unplugging later) - no
problem even in winter time.
But if you have landed outside you have to use your batteries - so the
pilot should be very careful how he handles this - beeing grounded due
to empty batteries is not what one likes!
The ATR42 modelled in FLY! II (very detailled) has external power
plugged in by default. So if you run up your engines and taxi without
unplugging your APU/external you have your first damage before even 10
feet away (by the simulated cables).
So for me the direction for the sim should be - if you "check" full
realistic electric system (as parameter or checkbox) every aircraft
should be handled as in reality - external power supply, APU, or build
in battery (like small aircraft or as second choice).
And if you don't want to handle power supply then uncheck the option or
use another METAR!
I like(d) the way FLY! II handles this technical stuff - if you misuse
the generators or batteries or don't set all main switches right -
you'll get the damages - this should be simulated also in FlightGear
sometime in the future :-)
