As luck would have it, I started trying to compile FG under MSVC 2005 this
very morning. It doesn't seem entirely straightforward, there seem to be a
huge number of errors, and much of the current code is marked as deprecated,
so it's hard to pick out the real problems/errors. I've given up for now,
but I'll try some more in due course.

Meanwhile, Cygwin works just fine, what's the problem with that, and can I
help?
