english (excuse my bad translation):
The auctioned article is the complete version 0.9.9 on 3 dvds, for 32-
bit windows, rpms for posix (linux, solaris) systems, mac os v 10.4.x
and higher, all generally available 72 models of planes + 12.5 gb of
scenery -- called by Curt version 0.9.10 (the entire globe except for
some ocean fragments). Together with the game (sic) you receive the
beginnings of a Polish translation of the instructions 'Flightgear --
installation and first steps', which the newest version you may get
from the connection above.
my thoughts (what there are of them 8-), they are probably worth what
you paid for them)
There was someone doing this last year. Many in poland still use
dialup (fewer and fewer every year of course, my collegues in the
cities mostly have broadband of some kind -- cable or adsl), but some
are stuck with dialup and need to pay for local calls -- you pay a
set amount per impulse of connection, an impulse is 3 minutes in
length if memory serves, maybe some Polish dialup users would find
this auction a cheap, and convenient way to get the latest flightgear.
The auction ended on march 30th, with no bidders. D***, I could've
picked up the 0.9.10 scenery for under two bucks! -- (just kidding!)
I'm not defending what this person is doing, only explaining what I
see as the possible situation, I remember dialup H*** not very
fondly, I had an especially noisy phone line in my apartment in
Poland and dropped connections were a constant problem. As I'm sure
you all noticed in my translation, they refer to flightgear as a game
and not a simulation so perhaps they're not too familiar with the
software.
best regards and good morning,
Ima
Even more 'Off Topic':
I will be testing Internet connectivity in Norway this summer. Can
anyone familiar with Internet in Norway recommend a good isp in the
suburbs of the city of Valldal?
;-)
Mac os x or linux compatibility would be a plus... Thank you! I.
