Frankly, I tried it today for the first time (nvidia). It worked very well. With it I can not only resize the window down, but up to fullscreen again. I haven't noticed any artifacts, but also no speed increase. (Do newer nvidia drivers perhaps compress automatically?) But anyway: the discussion was not about the texture compression patch, but about whether we should fork plib. One argument was the sometimes poor handling of submissions, and the compression patch is mostly mentioned first.
