I agree, it should be set on in the preferences file. I know that I am in the minority being someone who sets it to off in my own. Mostly I am interested in keeping people thinking about the ramifications of some of the stuff that they put in -set.xml files. Sometimes things seem like a good idea if you don't consider all the ramifications. Just so long as everyone remembers that it isn't a "preference" setting unless people can set it to their own personal preference and still have it respected by the program.
