I guess that the brightness is adjustable on a RL HUD, so the "darkness" claim doesn't hold. Without doubt an RL pilot would like to see the contents against dark *and* bright backgrounds, so I can't be that "dark". I was meanwhile pointed to a few photos, and the HUD looks more like 0.4/1/0.4 on them. Or something. > the one you would see on an old CRT monitor.
