Hi, I tried to shed light into the OSG/plib performance issue and why it hits Windows users.
I installed Fedora Core 6 (fought with fglrx to get direct rendering to work ;-) and compiled FlightGear with the same sources I use on Windows XP. Both OSG and Plib. * OSG has quite the same performance on Linux and Windows. (this seems reasonable) * OSG seems to have the comparable performance as Plib on Linux. * Plib is a lot faster on Windows. So the interesting question is: Why is plib significantly faster on Windows? Olaf PS: Now I remembered a fact some months ago: FlightGear on Windows was a significantly faster than on Linux on my laptop.... now I see that performance was guided by plib. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
