I would like to redefine two keys:

                 now then
  ----------------------------------------------
  SPACE starter/prop browser PTT
  s-key toggle 2D panels starter
  S-key -- toggle 2D panels

I'm aware that this is a major change, as SPACE has been
the starter key for a very long time. But:

- we need the SPACE key for more important stuff, such as
the PTT (Push-To-Talk) function. This needs to be easy
to find (even in the dark) and comfortable to use. A key
like the y-key would be a major PITA for that.

- the starter doesn't need to be on such a prominent key.
Jets/helicopters and some props don't use it at all, and
most of the other props have the engines running already.
So the key is really only used after resetting. (Exceptions:
  spitfire/seafire/hurrican. Others?)

- s for starter makes a lot of sense and is compatible with
  other gam^Wsimulators. ;-)

Aircraft which redefine the keys anyway won't be affected
much, as their own definitions won't be changed. They should,
however, migrate, too.

The new SPACE binding would call a controls(?) wrapper with
two arguments: modifiers and state (press|release). That way
up to eight functions could be on the SPACE key
(e.g. Shift-Alt-Space).

Now the questions is: are there (preferably good :-) arguments,
not to make that change? Some that I forgot to consider? If so,
what would be the alternatives? I'd make this change in the
next days if there are no serious objections.

m.
