..you want --bpp=24.  I get around 2 to 3 fps on less than 1/5 of 
your irons, my ATI clone (128MB 128bit 9250 Radeon 8xAGP card in 
a 2xAGP speed slot w an AMD K6-2 450MHz and 384MB, startup takes 
about 5 minutes of heavy swapping as it runs out of ram.  
Just give it time.  ;o)


..I see no impact on framerates going between 800x600 to 1920x1440 on 
a 2048x1536 screen, however easing back monitor speed from 59Hz to 54Hz
got it a _lot_ smoother, probably because that drops the card's output
to the spec 240MHz which it looks like it can handle.  ;o)
