Hi All, As I mentioned in my mail yesterday, I'm taking another look at 3D clouds.
Rather than using Impostors, I instead looked at what I could do by using GPU shaders - basically offloading as much processing onto the graphics card as possible. This worked very well for the random-forests, which is in some ways a similar problem - needing to generate huge numbers of very similar pieces of simple geometry. Here's a current screenshot showing my progress: http://www.nanjika.co.uk/flightgear/clouds.jpg So far, I haven't noticed any effect on performance at all. There are still quite a few bugs to be ironed out, but I think I will be finished by Christmas. -Stuart ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Flightgear-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel
