I do not expect sliding to be gone.
It is just that the velocity that is seen by the FDM does not exactly match 
the velocity that the object you are standing on, especially when the object 
rotates. So the present code provides velocities much closer to the the 
velocity that is really present at this point to get this movement.
There is still room for improvement, but this is one step there.

Csaba, for your patch. The problems that arise from having only directly 
velocity dependent friction are *not* gone - this is *not* the scope of my 
change. So, past sorting out the object sharing stuff, Fred reported, I believe 
I can do something to provide you with a reference point that is fixed to the 
body you are moving on.
