So far nobody seems to like the idea of abandoning <r></r><g></g><b></b> for a list of numbers. I think you can safely forget about that. To be honest I don't get this part of your request either since you stated you don't even work witht he XML files much ("I haven't written much in the property list syntax, or in XML for that matter.") On top of that I have yet to see a single key argument to push this forward. 1. "everybody else uses this syntax" -> Everybody else is (was) usign MSFS, why bother developing FGFS 2. "I've been used to this syntax for over 25 years" -> The world has changed since then, it's not about effective use of computer power any more. Assisting the user (modeler in our case) to keep the number of mistakes he or she can make to a minimum is way more important now (and rightfully). Now if the modeler had a range of GUI tools to model the aircraft, set up the animations and sound configuration files etc. and let them write the XML files for them I would probably share your opinion. But that's not the care and it doesn't look like it will happen soon either.
