Yes flight gear is a wonderful deal, and fun with freedom ;-)

Any hints or tips re autopilot would be appreciated.

I've working on developing a motion platform. So far I have FG 
manipulating small servos on the bottom of a cockpit in a cardbox box, a 
real dodgy scale prototype with Action man as pilot.

This is why I've been sensitive about the auotpilot as the "wobbles" 
will manifest themselves on the motion platform.
