AFAIKS the problem is that when the joystick is connected the property
sim/current-view/goal-pitch-offset-deg is always set/reset to 90 and
sim/current-view/goal-heading-offset-deg is set/reset to 140/145 (I think -
it is overwriting too fast to read). So far, I have been unable to locate
where this is happening, but I think the recent HUD changes are a likely
candidate.

When the mouse input is selected goal-pitch/heading-offset-deg are not used.


This explains completely what it is that Fred and I are seeing, but not the
cause.
