git clean -x -d -f also removes CMakeCache.lst
You need distclean to completely clean a source if you are going the
save a good compile source and save space. "make check" doesn't remove
old Makefile and other things
You are correct you don't need to keep the source unless it is something
like a good ffmpeg.
