Fortunately some of my testing had been accompagnied by a friendly
GRASS guru who's been inspecting the respective GRASS code wrt.
performance concerns. Finally, for the most time-consuming steps he was
able to cut the processing time down from several weeks to just a few
days, thus, in the end, making TerraGear-in-GRASS more likely to happen
as planned.
