I'll probably add a few comments this week, the stuff is pretty bare

I regret I really don't know a bare Shapefile viewer.

Well, launching the application and opening a Shapefile from the
dialogue box isn't _that_ complicated, is it !?  ;-)

Well, QGIS has been using Qt all the time, but in times of 1.0.2
they've been using Qt 3.something, as far as I remember.

In busier times the machine serves dozends of HTTP requests per second. 
I'm not monitoring all of this ....
