Finally the test created 3.3 GByte of terrain with CORINE land cover
and VMap0 roads in 49 hours using one single process, before it ran
into a segfault.  I think that's still pretty good and therefore I'd
declare this test a success, despite the segfault.
Cleaning VMap0 proved not to be that successful after a close
inspection, I'm currently re-doing that one with different parameters
(much smaller snapping threshold).

As soon as VMap0 looks reasonable (maybe in a week or three, who
knows), I'll start merging CORINE and all the hand-carved landcover -
at least those datasets I can get my hands on ....
