It was indeed the primer of the right engine; if I press it, the engine 
starts. However, the left engine starts out of the box after launching 
Flightgear by pressing } three times and holding s; the right engine 
does not. Same for running the Hot start tutorial and holding s. Do you 
see this behaviour, too?

Btw, after running the Cold start tutorial, the master switch is off. 
Maybe the Start Engine tutorial should advise you to switch it back on 
again, otherwise the starter won't work when following the tutorial 
strictly.
