Not only should the roadmap is a good idea, but I think it's just something
essential for core dev of opensource projects:
- this can help make converge things devs are planning/willing to do "next" and
things users are looking for;
- this is a good public communication plan;
- this helps triaging between what would make a 2.12 and what would make a 3.0;
- this is essential to make devs focus on the same features, as some feature
enhancements need a few devs to work together to be achieved.
Your plans for 3.0 sound great.
