In addition to what Heiko said, Nasal script loops can be used to print any properties or functions of properties under any set of pre-defined conditions with adjustible sampling interval on-screen. If you re-direct console output to a file, you also get something that is plottable with minimum manual postprocessing. I've used this in the past to check the environment simulation by plotting pressure or windspeed graphs.
