Yes, I am aware that it must be the DRM driver (or kernel, or X, or some interplay 
between them) to cause the problem. I forgot to say that I also posted this question 
on the DRI users list, but since the problem doesn't seem to easy to reproduce in 
other applications I suspect it may go unnoticed.

My question is: has anyone got a similar card (Radeon VE or 7000) to work reliabily 
with FlighGear? Or should I just forget about it and get a new GeForce card instead?
