Okay, I've been working on getting this running for some time now. More
off and on - I finally replaced my video card, the 2nd source ATI Radeon
9000 cards aren't supported in 3D accleration by ATI drivers. So I
bought one manufactured by ATI and my 3D hardware acceleration support
is running, as shown by lsmod and glxgears.

I'm running RH 8.0, ATI Radeon 9000, with XFree86 4.2.0 and glibc 2.2 on
a Pentium 4.

When I run the command fgfs, a window opens up and I start to see the
inside of a cockpit and a runway - then Segmentation Fault.

I occurs right after
...
Loading tile /usr/local/FlightGear/data/Scenery/w130n30/w123n37/942065
token = OBJECT_BASE name = 942065.btg
load() base = /usr/local/FlightGear/data/Scenery
Loading tile /usr/local/FlightGear/data/Scenery/w130n30/w123n37/942034
token = OBJECT_BASE name = 942034.btg
Segmentation fault

A backtrace from the debugger gives me:

#0  0x47d8da0f in s12896 () from /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so
#1  0x3e8e5e28 in ?? ()

It looks like my ATI driver is the problem. I run glxgears to check out
the graphics driver and have no problem with a frame rate of 1900.
Tuxracer (ooo wee) runs ok, and other low end graphics programs work
fine.

Anyone have a suggestion? other than replacing my video card :)

Thanks
