Great picture guys! It's good to see people doing these kind of things when they can. It will be interesting to hear what Ari has to say about the rental.

Fly High!

We had the first (real-life) FlightGear fly-in yesterday at CYOW, with
an XML theme.

Attendance was sparse: fellow FlightGear user Ari Krupnikov and his
friend flew from Brampton (near Toronto) to Ottawa in a rented Piper
Warrior and were joined by my Warrior II, happily tied down on the
field (my fuel expenses were very low for this trip). Here's a
commemorative photo, taken by Ari's friend:

I'm the stocky one on the left, Ari's the tall guy in the middle, and
my plane is the handsome machine on the right. Ari's rental is
directly behind us. From what he said of the rental plane's trim, Ari
may have a few contributions to make to the "why doesn't my plane fly
straight" permathread on this this.

Shortly after Ari arrived at dinnertime yesterday a line of
thunderstorms rolled in from the north, so he waited until this
morning to fly back to Brampton, with a stop at Toronto Island (which
is like Meigs, except that it has more runways and Daley Jr. hasn't
found time to drive up to to Toronto and tear it up for us).

Next year we'll hope for better attendance, and expect that the
FlightGear Fly-In will soon move to the top of everyone's calendar,
displacing tired, old ones OshKosh and Sun-n-Fun.

All the best,

David
