I thought I would have a go at building FG with Msys and Mingw.
So I downloaded the latest cvs of Plib,Simgear and FG.
So far I have got Plib to build and install with out any errors.
But when I go to configure Simgear it says it can't find Plib.
Some background on Msys. When it installs it only creates the
following directories in the root bin, doc, etc, home, mingw, share
and uninstall. When Plib installs it creates two more directories
include and lib.
When I run the make install for Plib it says it is creating the directories
/usr/include/plib and usr/lib but infact it only creates include and lib.Does
it expect usr to allready be created.
I tried to solve the problem by creating the directory /usr/ separately but it
is like the plib can't find it.Would I have to create the directory using the
mkdir command within the Msys shell.I have not tried that yet.Just created
the folder using the windows new folder command.
I have tried using the --with-plib= option when running configure but to no
avail.
I have had a look at my Cygwin set up which compiles fine and in it the lib
folder is not in the usr folder as specified in the plib readme and yet it works fine.
Another thing I noticed is that the pthread library is not found where might I find
this to download.
The fact that Plib seemed to build without any problem does that mean that the
Msys/Mingw combination is basically sound or is there much more that Simgear and
FG need to build.
Why you may ask if I have a servicable version of Cygwin would I want to bother with
Msys.Well from what I understand you cannot destribute the binaries created by Cygwin
and the Msys/Mingw combination is much lighter than Cygwin(about 500meg).
Is this worth persuing or may it need some modification to the build structure of Simgear
and FG before it.
Any help anyone would like to give would be much appreciated.
Thank You Innis
