The initial position code used to position one on the runway closest to
facing into the wind.  This seems to have got removed or broken at some
point - is this intended?  Also the [EMAIL PROTECTED] option seems to have
been removed from the help (verbose).

I agree that there should be a way to set the default calm-wind runway.
However, the solution you suggest isn't really practical - the runways
database is automatically generated from an externally maintained database
shared with X-Plane, and making the order of runways significant probably
isn't likely to be accepted.  However, it is something (default calm
runway) that could be put into an xml file for each airport (along with
circuit directions and all other 'bits and pieces') and then read-in if
available.

You can specify a runway on the command line to override the program
choice.
