Hi!

I installed 0.9.4 on Linux Redhat 9. Recvd "segmentation fault" message attempting to start from command line. Updated a number of items indicated in the installation instructions. Finally got FG to start after upgrading video drivers, but video is now extremely sluggish and audio cuts in/out as if there is an interrupt issue or something.

I now get one error messsage when starting FG: "XFREE-DRI missing on display 0.0" but the program starts anyway.

This doesn't sound like a message you want to see.

Display is complete, but very sluggish, as I stated above.

Most likely you are seeing software only opengl rendering ... which should be technically correct (i.e. the display should be exactly right) but will be excruciatingly slow (at least for an application like flightgear.)

I tried to apply xfree updates to latest version, but the RedHat Package manager just begins the routine and then suddenly flashes off the screen with no explanation whatsoever. Is there a way to force Linux to apply the latest and greatest XFree packages?

Even Tux Racer has slowed to a crawl! Always worked just fine previously.

Software rendering ... :-(

System is a Dell (yeah, I know) P4 with the intel 845/810 integrated "extreme video" capable of sharing up to 128 megs of ram. Audio is Sound Blaster Live 5.1 (has true emu101k chip) and has been working just fine for months.

The video driver updates I applied came from intel's website and were targeted for Linux, so I thought it would help to update them.

I'm not a redhat guy so I can't help with specific redhat configuration questions ... maybe someone else here can suggest a few ideas or things to look at?

Regards,

Curt.
