Thanks Erik.  I'll keep this in mind as a last resort.
 Still hoping to get to bottom of problems with the
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro file. I tend to like a good
challenge :-)

I guess that depends on how we define "recognized".  
jstest reports "on" for each of the 12 buttons, so
seems that the OS is seeing them all.
