..huh?  Did you try: ' Option "Rotate" "CW" ' or 
somesuch in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 ?

..toss in the above and restart X to tilt X 90 degress CW, then:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/FG $ glxinfo |grep "direct rendering"
direct rendering: Yes

..Nvidea uses their own closed source accelleration scheme.
