An option might be to hack the FG replay system to dump a screen shot with every frame ... in replay mode you could take as long as is needed to dump individual images at any resolution without having to worry about real time performance. Then there are software utils to assemble sequences of images into movies ...
It would take some hacking, but should be very doable ...
