I just noticed the characters '"true"' when I used the
menu to check the /sim/hud/draw-fps string.  So I
tried using

--prop:/sim/hud/draw-fps=true

without the double quotes on true and I got the frame
rate displayed in bottom right corner. Excellent! A
previous post mentioned that setting this property in
this way is only for showing the framerate in the
alternative HUD. Can't say I know what is the
alternative HUD.
