Hmm.  I know there are plenty of people here with far better technical 
knowledge of 3D graphics and the relative merits of the various generations 
of cards than I have, and I hope some of them will suggest something to you.  
Personally, as someone whose priorities feature "least hassle" and "low 
cost", I'd have gone for this one;

But it's out of stock.  Maybe you could find a similar deal elsewhere?  I'm 
making any comment on the _Hardware_ , but my current preference for NVidia 
is mostly down to the quality of the drivers, which until recently has been 
relatively good, IMO.  The fact they're closed-source is a constant worry to 
me though.

No, it's pretty ancient, I got it for nothing a couple of years ago!  I 
wouldn't recommend anyone paying money for one, although if you knew someone 
who'd upgraded from one it would be worth shoving in to test...
