Just to clarify for the OP - I agree with your diagnosis that the video card
is not up to scratch, and also that almost any of the GeForce range available
today will be OK. However, the problem is in a lack of proper OpenGL
support, rather than DirectX, to my (very incomplete!) knowledge...
When buying a new card, then, make sure it has decent OpenGL support.
